ARAUJO, Ronald de Paula. Civilization and its discontents and the paternal function in the beginning, now and forever. Trivium [online]. 2020, vol.12, n.1, pp.91-102. ISSN 2176-4891. https://doi.org/10.18379/2176-4891.2020v1p.95.
The myth of the father's assassination from the primitive horde is Freudian fundamental postulate in the psychoanalytic thinking. Civilization and its discontents persist as something which, from the primitive enjoyment of our species, is socially intractable. Thereby, We propose to critically study the thesis called "the decline of the paternal function". We focus on the research undertaken by Markos Zafiropoulos, in the book 'Lacan y las ciencias sociales'. The important and, indeed, urgent research by this author, analyzes the sociological assumptions supporting the Lacanian text taken as a basis by the defenders of the aforementioned thesis, namely, 'Family complexes in the formation of the individual', 1938.
