ALBERTI, Sonia et al. Objectification in the Hospital and Covid’s Times: A Psychoanalytic Elaboration of Experiences. Rev. Psicol. Saúde [online]. 2022, vol.14, n.2, pp.205-216.  Epub 05-Jul-2024. ISSN 2177-093X.  https://doi.org/10.20435/pssa.v14i2.1546.

Based on the psychoanalytic theory, we aimed to identify issues arising from institutional clinical practice in a university hospital in the context of covid-19, which led to theoretically elaborate an institutional symptom: objectification. It is a concept used by different authors, which concerns the destitution of the subject who, in the most different contexts, can be taken as an object not only in practices but also in discourses. We hypothesized that the effects of the pandemic experienced in 2020, which overwhelmed the hospital in which we operate, particularly revealed the objectification not only of patients and their families but also of the teams that, in the great majority, tried very hard to cope with the situation. In consequence, we sustain that the objectalization, which we saw with the naked eye in the context of the pandemic, was already latent in hospital practice, even in less dark times.
