This research aimed to explore relations between Holland’s model of vocational interests (RIASEC) and the personality traits: Neuroticism, Openness and Extroversion. A sample of 145 university students (87 female), averaging 25 years, filled out the following inventories: Career Interest Type (Tipológico de Interesses Profissionais, ITIP-96), Neuroticism Factorial Scale (Escala Fatorial de Neuroticismo, EFN), Extroversion Factorial Scale (Escal a Fatorial de Extroversão, EFEx) and Openness Factorial Scale (Escala Fatorial de Abertura, EFA). The results were discussed. Correlations were found between Haughtiness (an Extroversion facet and the Artistic type (r=0,45) and Enterprising (r=0,49) for men, while for women the correlations were verified between the Openness trait and the Investigative type (r=0,44). Furthermore, the regression analyses showed the Openness and Haughtiness traits to be important variables to explain the vocational interests.
