SOUZA, Milton Mattos de  e  LAROS, Jacob Arie. Job satisfaction and corporate social responsibility: a multilevel analysis. Rev. Psicol., Organ. Trab. [online]. 2010, vol.10, n.2, pp.21-37. ISSN 1984-6657.

The topic of job satisfaction is becoming increasingly important for companies that need to develop a more socially responsible posture to remain in the market. Data on 5,900 employees from 103 companies were analyzed using a multilevel regression model to explore the relationship between the employees' degree of job satisfaction and their perception of actions related to social responsibility. A multilevel model with two levels was applied, employee being the level 1 unit and company the level 2 unit. The dependent variable in the model was the general satisfaction level at work. In the final model, at least 57.4% of the variance of level 1 and 95.4% of the variance of level 2 was explained. At level 1, the perception of actions related to administration, to health issues, and to education had the strongest impact on general job satisfaction. At level 2, the number of accidents at work was the only variable with a significant, but negative, effect on general job satisfaction. This study showed evidence of major components, from the employee viewpoint, that increase the perceived improvement in the work environment through actions of corporate social responsibility

Palavras-chave : job satisfaction; multilevel analysis; corporate social responsibility.
