NUNES, Carlos Henrique S.; HUTZ, Claudio S. e GIACOMONI, Claudia H.. Relationship between subjective well-being and personality within the big five personality model. Aval. psicol. [online]. 2009, vol.8, n.1, pp.99-108. ISSN 1677-0471.
The objective of the present study was to investigate the relationship between Subjective Well-being (SWB) and Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism within the Big Five Personality model. SWB is an important psychological variable that refers to the way people assess their lives. There are several models to explain SWB but there is agreement that personality structure plays a major role in its prediction. The participants were 357 university students. The results showed correlations between SWB and Extraversion, Agreeableness and Neuroticism which are in agreement with most published studies. The largest correlations with SWB were found for the Neuroticism subfactors. The results strengthen the hypothesis that personality structure is an important predictor of SWB and they also demonstrate specific relationships between SWB and the subfactors of the Brazilian scales developed to assess personality.
