SCHERER, Alessandra D’ávila; MORE, Carmen Leontina Ojeda Ocampo  e  CORADINI, Aline Orlandi. Obesity, family and transgenerationality: an integrative literature review. Nova perspect. sist. [online]. 2017, vol.26, n.58, pp.17-37. ISSN 0104-7841.

Obesity as a chronic disease is currently considered a worldwide epidemic. This paper presents an integrative review of the national and international scientific production on the relationship between obesity, family and transgenerationality, in order to understand the family factors that influence the obesity development process. A search was performed in LILACS, Scopus, Web of Science and Medline databases, within the period 2006-2016. The following descriptors were used: "Obesity", "Family", "Intergenerational relations", "Generations", "Genogram" and "Family Dynamic". After a selection according to the established criteria, 15 out of 384 papers were included, which constitute the corpus of this work. Results showed that there is a repetition of obesity along generations and that family environment and nutrition habits are factors that influence the development of obesity since childhood. It stands out that there is a lack of studies that specifically address the relationship between the history of affective family ties and the development of obesity. In conclusion, a greater scientific production around the understanding of relational patterns established by the family over time is necessary, as they constitute important resources to prevent and intervene in the context of obesity.

Palavras-chave : obesity; family; transgenerationality; genogram; family relationships.
