COIMBRA, José César. Time and memory in the family court. Estud. pesqui. psicol. [online]. 2009, vol.9, n.3. ISSN 1808-4281.
Family courts possess the capacity to judge cases involving the separation of couples and definitions for the guardianship of their children. Today it's common that these courts have teams of professionals composed of psychologists and social workers, and they contribute to the judicial decison through studies and reports. It should be noted that the parties that demand judicial intervention are solicited to elaborate a description of the couple's past so that based on this information a case can be constructed. This elaboration will be manifest in the arguments constructed by each of the parties, as well as present in the participation in the procedures belonging to the universal judicial process, including, for example, audiences and psychosocial studies. This article has as its objective to describe and analyze the retroactive effects of the feelings produced from this experience, which will be put in order through the formulation of a narrative about the past that is addressed to the judicial system.
