PINO, Maria Antonieta Pezo del. From the squiggle game to the group pictogram: the specificity of the group associative chain. J. psicanal. [online]. 2015, vol.48, n.88, pp.131-142. ISSN 0103-5835.

This article shows squiggle game as an inspiring model for drawing with other individuals in the group; it is a resource that the author calls "group pictogram", which consists in asking the members (of the group) to draw together on the same sheet of paper. This paper presents the concept of group associative chain and its specificity, when the group pictogram is used as a therapeutic mediator. The work with groups generates associative processes that are different from those ones described by psychoanalysis, in its classical frame. The reason of this difference is the simultaneous presence of several subjects, and the effects of interdiscursivity. The chains articulate interrelated processes, the single subject associations, and the associations that were inter-subjectively created in the group. When a therapeutic mediator is included in the group beyond the word (such as the group pictogram), the associative process presents unique features. Among these features, we notice an association chain: from trace to draw; from draw to draw; from draw to word; and from word to narrative. In the group pictogram, unprecedented and unthought aspects are similarly included in the language slip due to the work of the preconscious, the work of drawing together, and primarily due to the effects of the presence of multiple subjects.
