HERZOG, Alexandre e WENDLING, Maria Isabel. Psychologist's perceptions of family during chemical dependent's treatment. Aletheia [online]. 2013, n.42, pp.23-38. ISSN 1413-0394.
Family relationships have a major influence on addiction. Therefore, to understand how this phenomenon affects the context of drug treatment in the Valley of Paranhana, semi structured interviews were conducted with psychologists in a general hospital and three therapeutic communities. This procedure was recorded, transcribed and analyzed using the method of content analysis of Bardin (2011). The results showed that to the psychologists interviewed the participation of family members is essential to the recovering of addicts. However, they perceive the family become sick as well, presenting difficulties in adherence to treatment, failing to uphold rules and combinations. Notwithstanding, in their view, when well oriented the family can reestablish the familiar tie with the dependent and collaborate more effectively with treatment. Thus, one should focus more on the family in order that they learn about this issue and they get help, turning the treatment more effective.
