CHERVET, Bernard. Psychoanalytic training with end and without end: transmission, formation and lack. J. psicanal. [online]. 2022, vol.55, n.103, pp.23-44. Epub 08-Jul-2024. ISSN 0103-5835. https://doi.org/10.5935/0103-5835.v55n103.03.
The transmission of psychoanalysis combines an accomplishment of the psyche referred to an ideal of mental functioning and an acculturation which includes the psychoanalytic training itself and an opening to the whole of culture. Any training is a place of transfer of authority but also of negative tendencies which have consequences on our capacity to become and remain analysts, but also on institutional functioning. The splits in psychoanalytic societies are frequently associated with the training of psychoanalysts, whatever the training model. A psychoanalytical ethic based on a masochism of abstinence is thus transmitted, which opposes the tendencies to reduction and extinction. There is no analyst who can become one and remain one. But there is no analyst who can only be one through the institution. The oscillations between the individual superego and the cultural superego, between the regressions of the sessions and those of other scenes of life outside the session, found the possibility of becoming and remaining an analyst.
