HOLANDA, Maria Clara; CORREA, Jane e MOUSINHO, Renata. Oral and reading comprehension in dyslexia and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Rev. psicopedag. [online]. 2020, vol.37, n.113, pp.144-155. ISSN 0103-8486. https://doi.org/10.5935/0103-8486.20200016.
This paper aims to characterize the performance of two clinical groups, Dyslexia and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), in verbal language comprehension, speed reading and oral reading comprehension. The protocols of 29 students were analyzed, 14 with dyslexia and 15 with ADHD, with an average age of 8 years and 4 months, all from the 3rd year of elementary school. Both groups presented the same pattern in relation to the relative difficulty among the various comprehension skills evaluated. Comparison between clinical groups revealed better scores of oral and silent reading comprehension in students with ADHD. The present work has clinical and educational implications in order to collaborate on intervention planning and school practices in accordance with the particularities of each diagnosis.
