MADUREIRA, Daniela Soares; PARREIRAS, Paula Sampaio; PEREIRA, Vanessa Rosa e HOURI, Luciana Filgueiras. Family satisfaction in intensive care assessed by means of FS-ICU 24. Rev. SBPH [online]. 2019, vol.22, n.1, pp.195-215. ISSN 1516-0858.
The research investigated the satisfaction of relatives of patients hospitalized in the postoperative intensive care unit (ICU) of a large public hospital. Factors related to the care provided by the multidisciplinary team to the patient and family were evaluated, as well as their participation in decision-making regarding the treatment provided. The study was conducted in 2017, through a descriptive-transversal methodology of mixed approach, through the application of the FS-ICU 24 questionnaire and a semi-structured interview. The results were submitted to descriptive and inferential statistical analysis and content analysis. It was evidenced the influence of factors related to the team-family communication, as one of the main factors in relation to satisfaction with the care provided at the ICU. It was concluded that it is necessary to create strategies that improve the frequency of communication with family members, taking into account the lapses present in the discourse and the family member's anguish in the intensive care unit, favoring a better knowledge of their needs and expectations and the chosen practices of National Policy of Humanization.
