STANKOVSKAYA, Elena. Emotional experience: applying person-centered approach to the practice of existential analysis. Rev. abordagem gestalt. [online]. 2014, vol.20, n.1, pp.77-85. ISSN 1809-6867.
This article focuses on the issue of integration of the ideas of person-centered and existential approaches. Specifically, it shows how C. Rogers's notion of "necessary and sufficient" conditions for a successful therapy is firmly embedded in the practice of existential analysis and logotherapy, and works as a basis for confronting interventions. The paper analyses similarities and differences of the work with emotional experiences in E. Gendlin's focusing and A. Längle's personal existential analysis. It was shown that, despite the divergence in terminology, there is considerable similarity in their value principles and theoretical guidelines. The potential contribution of combining these two approaches to psychotherapy is discsussed. The paper concludes with a practical case illustration.
