BENINI, Rinália Taís. Psychoanalysis goes to the cinema: relations between languages of dream and of the seventh art. Analytica [online]. 2019, vol.8, n.15, pp.1-15. ISSN 2316-5197.

The year is 1895, when both Psychoanalysis and cinema are born. Freud, when publishes with Breuer Studies on Hysteria, initiates what would later become the psychoanalytic theory. In different circumstances, the beginning of what would become the most popular art of all occurs with the first public screening with cinematography equipment by the Lumière brothers in Paris. Even though both comprise different theoretical and technical devices, not only do psychoanalysis and cinema have in common the same historical milestones, but also affinities between their specific languages. We get into the world of cinema through dreams. This research's general objective was to identify the possible relations between the languages of dream and cinema in the light of psychoanalysis. The study was outlined through a qualitative, bibliographic research of exploratory nature. Data collection was based on books, articles, theses and dissertations published from 1971 to 2017. Thus, a correlation between the languages of dream and of the seventh art was observed, associated with psychoanalysis. By combining the image with the word, producing fiction, cinema can lead the spectator to dream, fantasy, emotions, reflection and entertainment.
