Victimization is the experience of violence. It may lead to physical and psychological sequelae and increase the vulnerability that the individual suffers another victimization. Self efficacy is the belief that the individual has on his ability to produce the desired results in a given situation. This study aimed to develop and estimate the first reliability and validity evidences of the Self-efficacy Scale Related to Victimization Experiences, in a sample composed by 210 undergraduate students. The scale was developed with 17 items, maintained after content analysis. The Exploratory Factor Analysis and Parallel Analysis indicated the relevance of the one-factor solution (15 items), with good reliability α = 0.88. Through Rasch-Masters Partial Credit Mode it was described the item parameters and participants’ characteristics (difficulty levels/theta and adjustment indices infit/outfit), as well as the item parameters invariance according to the participants gender, which demonstrated the instrument suitability for evaluation of the construct in the matter.
