This study aimed to verify the correlation and association between school performance and the perception of parental responsiveness and demandingness in adolescents. In addition, differences by gender and age were investigated considering the constructs. Participants were 432 adolescents, 57% female, aged from 15 to 18 years (M = 16.32, SD = .86). It is a quantitative, cross-sectional, descriptive, and correlational study. Data were collected using a sociodemographic questionnaire, averages in school grades, and Parental Responsiveness and Demandingness Scale. Descriptive analyzes, Spearman correlation, Mann-Whitney U test, and chi-square were performed. Overall, there was a significant and negative correlation between school performance and maternal demandingness, as well as a positive correlation between maternal and paternal responsiveness and school performance. The parents were classified, mostly, as negligent, followed by authoritative/competent. The classification between high and low school performance with parental styles did not show statistically significant differences. Although educational strategies play a significant role in school performance, other factors are associated with it and should be investigated.
