This article aimed to understand the occupational stress factors in primary school teacher trainers in Nampula and their coping strategies to stress. This is an exploratory study, the qualitative nature involving 20 forming faculty. Data collection was via a semi-structured interview guide analyzed with the use of content analysis technique. The results indicate that the investigated trainers feel stressed at work, and such occupational stress perceived is due to lack of support materials (modules), planning lessons, the preparation exercises, the irregular payment of salaries and overhead tasks. The stress felt by trainers generates consequences both on a personal level, both organizational and family. To cope with stressful situations, trainers rely essentially palliative strategies. These results suggest the design and implementation of preventive and / or intervention programs on stress in teaching, with a view to improving and promoting health and quality of working life of the trainers.
