This article aims to understand the inclusion of public service employees with functional differences (disabled persons), considering their possible association with the work design, and their satisfaction with quality of life factors in the job. The research is split into three stages: (1) comparative nature, aiming to identify if people with or without disability accomplished activities with similar work design characteristics; (2) descriptive and qualitative nature, aiming to describe and understand possible relations between inclusion, work design, and satisfaction. The results pointed to the importance of specific factors for the analysis of inclusion, such as the elimination of barriers to accessibility and the possibility for people to feel included; belonging is a mitigating factor for barriers to accessibility. Moreover, we identified the relation of these factors with work design and satisfaction. We also indicated implications of the investigation for growing knowledge and practice of the topics.
