This study aims to identify the relationship between religiosity and ontological time perception in patients with chronic renal failure on hemodialysis treatment. The research was conducted in a private nephrology clinic in the city of João Pessoa/PB, Brazil. The sample included 100 patients with chronic renal failure with age average of 39.2 years old (SD = 14.8), ranging between of 18-79 years old, mostly female (60%). For data collection, the following questionnaires have been applied: Scales of Religious Attitudes, Scales of Ontological Perception of Time, as well as Socio-demographic questionnaire. The study has found positive association between the perception of the past and religious attitudes, more specifically as related to knowledge, behavior, and religious corporeality. Regarding the sense of future, only religious knowledge was positively associated to their perception of future. When analyzing the length of treatment, it was observed a positive association to religious attitudes (i.e. knowledge, behavior, and feelings). This study has concluded that religiosity can play an important role as mediator of the perception of the past as well as the future.
