The research that here it is presented had as main objective to establish the relationship between the social skills and the family social climate with the academic yield in a group of university students from Metropolitan Lima. For its performance, 205 students were evaluated, from both sexes, older than 16 years, who studied in the I cycle of studies in Psychology, coming from San Martin of Porres University and San Marcos National University to whom the List of Checkup of Social Abilities of Goldstein was applied, translated and adapted to our country by Ambrosio Tomás between 1994 - 95 and the scale of social climate in the family of Moos and Trickett standardized in Peru by Ruiz y Guerra in 1993. The results of this research were processed by Pearson correlation, square chi test, arithmetic mean and standard deviation, the coefficient Cronbach alpha. The results showed a positive and significant correlation between social abilities and the social climate in the family, being also that it doesnt exist a significant correlation statistically between social abilities and social climate in the family with the academic yield; also it was found that in connection with social skills and social climate in the family, more than 50% of the students of the total sample was located in the average level (65.9 % and 62.7 % respectively), and in academic yield only a small percentage of students (9.8%) obtained bad notes.
