Abstract

LEMOS, Caioá Geraiges de et al. Professional career and relationships of gender: a comparative study in undergraduate students. Bol. psicol [online]. 2005, vol.55, n.123, pp. 129-148. ISSN 0006-5943.

The objective of this work was to compare how both male and female undergraduate students perceive their professional careers. Participated into the research 493 female and male undergraduate students, whose ages varied between 19 and 56 years (average = 22,7), from eight graduate courses. A questionnaire based on reviewed literature and an inventory to evaluate students' professional tendencies, elaborated by Schein (1996) and adapted to the Brazilian undergraduate population by Lemos et al. (2004) were used as instruments. The study allowed to observe that different career references evidenced specific differences among genders, and that women present larger intern coherence either for career choice as to its' development.

Keywords : Professional career; Gender; Psychological evaluation; Professional tendencies.
