Abstract

The purpose of this study was to assess creativity development comparing high school and undergraduates students’ performance. The sample was composed of 865 students (475 females, 390 males), enrolled at Brazilian public and private high schools (628) and universities (237) in the Sao Paulo State. The instrument used was Torrance Test of Creative Thinking Figural Form, which evaluate 13 cognitive and emotional creative features. The results were analyzed by the Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA). It was found significant grade level effects (F=22,27, p<0,00) favoring undergraduates’ performance. Sex and the interaction of sex and grade level variables were not significant. It was verified the influence of educational level on all 13 creative features and the need to establish Brazilian norms considering grade level for this test.
