Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the thinking and creative style of executives, managers and subordinates. The instruments utilized were: Scale of Thinking and Creative Styles (Wechsler, 1999, 2006) and the Leadership Perception Inventory, elaborated for this research. The participants were 48 men and 28 women (38 were managers and 38 subordinates). The Analysis of Variance indicated significant differences (p<0,01) between managers and subordinates on the styles factors: Nonconformity Innovation, Intuitive Investment and Intuitive Daring. Female managers had significant difference (p<0,05) compared to male managers in the Internal and External Sensibility factor. In addition, the adjectives honest, understanding, objective, creative, flexible and secure were indicated more often as characterizing leadership. In conclusion, it was verified the possibility of identifying managers and their subordinates through their thinking and creative styles.
