CUNHA, Tatiane Regina dos Santos  e  BENETTI, Silvia Pereira da Cruz. Characterization of the children population in a psychology clinic school. Bol. psicol [online]. 2009, vol.59, n.130, pp. 117-127. ISSN 0006-5943.

The objective of this study was to characterize the child population referred to psychological assistance in a university clinic in the Metropolitan Region of Porto Alegre, RS. The features of 499 children enrolled during the years of 1999 to 2006 were described, including variables such as gender, age, reason for referral, source of referral, type of assistance, and interruptions. It was verified that the children population occupied a total of 51.8% related to search for psychological assistance. The majority of the children were between 6 to 9 years of age (56.4%), mainly boys (67.3%). The places that referred most of the cases were schools (63.5 %). Almost half of the children (43.5%) were referred to treatment with affective and relational problems and 64% of the cases dropped out of treatment.
