Abstract

CATAO, Elaine et al. Sexual Satisfaction Scale for Women (SSS-W): Translation into Portuguese and adaptation in preliminary. Bol. psicol [online]. 2010, vol.60, n.133, pp. 181-190. ISSN 0006-5943.

Self Sexual Satisfaction Scale for Women (SSS-W) is composed by 30 items and comprehends five distinct domains: contentment, communication, compatibility, relational concern and personal concern. We present a pilot study with a clinical sample of 20 women without sexual complains who were under psychotherapy with average age of 33 years, college educated (80%), heterosexual (95%) and living with a partner (60%). Statistic analysis revealed mean score of 99.55 (DP=20.33), and for the domains ranging from 17.15 to 23.40. This instrument presents significant relationships among the items and domains and among domains and the total score. For the evaluation of internal consistency the scale presented adequate levels of reliability. The results demonstrate that SSS-W is a promising instrument to evaluate sexual satisfaction in issues related to sexuality, which sometimes are denied in psychotherapy. Further studies will help to develop the use of this scale.
