SOUZA, Jamili Rasoul Salem de; WITTER, Geraldina Porto  e  WITTER, Carla. Cultural activities between students in the first and last year of a Psychology course. Bol. psicol [online]. 2010, vol.60, n.133, pp. 217-228. ISSN 0006-5943.

The University should provide conditions for development of the professional culture and the general culture. The goal of the research was to compare the cultural involvement of students in the first and last year in a Psychology’s undergraduate course in one private University at a suburban neighborhood of Sao Paulo. In the study participated 17 sophomore (G1) and 19 senior (G2) students. The instruments used were: a Free Informed Consent Term (TCLE) and the Cultural Experience measure. The results showed that reading, theater and cinema were the most common activities performed by G1 and G2. However, there was distinct variability into the groups of the sample as a whole and no significant correlation (rs=0.48, p < 0.05). There was no statistical difference into the groups and the sample as a whole between the number who wanted to or did not engage in cultural activity. There was significant correlation (0.80, p < 0.05) among the activities valued by sophomore and seniors, being more referred: television, literature and family celebrations. According to the results found there is need for greater involvement of students in non academic cultural activities.
