NAKANO, Tatiana de Cássia; SAMPAIO, Maria Helena de Lemos  e  SILVA, Adriana Bueno. Attention and intelligence in applicants to first driver’s license. Bol. psicol [online]. 2011, vol.61, n.134, pp. 63-78. ISSN 0006-5943.

Considering the relevance of psychological evaluation in traffic, this paper aimed to investigate the intelligence and attention processes in candidates to the first national driver license. Participated in the study 169 individuals (77 female and 92 male), aged between 18 and 70 years old, from three educational levels. The candidates answered the Teste de Atenção Concentrada and Teste R-1. The results showed that the attention and intelligence are above normative mean of the instruments because both measures are influenced by candidates’ educational level. The data showed positive correlation (r=0.451, p≤0.01) between intelligence and attention. The results indicated the relevance of further studies about instruments' effectiveness to differentiate between good and bad applicants. It is also recommended further research using more diverse samples.
