Abstract

New concepts and meanings of family and parenthood have been reconstructed in contemporaneity. Various changes occurred into the family show that traditional references, such as monogamic, hierarchical and heterosexual family coexist with new values of the current families, like egalitarianism and flexibility. This article has as a goal to promote reflection about the family and contemporary parental models at issue at this moment of experimentation and construction, emphasizing homoparental families, based on the theoretical referential of family's and couples' psychoanalysis as well, psychosocial studies. It discusses the applicability of a relational ethic that does not limit itself to the biological domain and recognizes the importance of the bond in the construction of these new parenthoods.
