Abstract

SAKAI, Joana D'arc Marinho Corrêa et al. Scholastic achievement and the teacher-student bond through the educational pair test. Bol. psicol [online]. 2012, vol.62, n.137, pp. 221-238. ISSN 0006-5943.

The Educational Pair Test (EPT) is a useful tool to study the teacher-student bond from the student's projections about feelings, thoughts, perspectives and other features related to the relationship and learning. The goal of this study was to assess the relationship between academic performance and indications of conflict at the Educational Pair Test according to a scale based on specific literature. The sample was composed by 334 children enrolled at the third and fourth grades of public and private schools. They were divided in three groups according to their school performance assessed by their teachers as poor, regular and good. The results showed that the group with poor performance had a higher number of children showing conflicts in their Educational Pair Tests. This research shows the significance of the EPT as a device to diagnose and plan intervention strategies in the classroom
