Abstract

DE BARROS JUNIOR, Antônio Carlos  and  RIBEIRO, Marcelo Afonso. The protective mother-company (un)covers a perverse dimension. Bol. psicol [online]. 2013, vol.63, n.139, pp. 129-145. ISSN 0006-5943.

Flexibilization capitalism has produced important changes into the way that companies are managed, also affecting those considered as the best places to work. Here we describe results of a post-graduate research about the unconscious relationship between the subject and such capitalism in a multinational hotel company. The method adopted was qualitative - a study of applied psychoanalysis through the analysis of discourses from organizational documents and open interviews with six of the company employees, held in 2007 and 2008. The old mother-company head office is being replaced by another one, which is objective when selecting competent people and implementing changes to fulfil profit demands. It keeps the image of a protective mother elected more than 10 times as one of the best companies to work in Brazil. However, some contradictions and impasses are detected in the analysed discourses, which seem to oscillate between the neurotic and perverse social ties.

Keywords : Social ties; work organization; organizational commitment; applied psychoanalysis.
