LEME, Maria Isabel da Silva  and  CARVALHO, Alysson Massote. Conflict resolution by preadolescents and parents' and teachers' opinions. Bol. psicol [online]. 2014, vol.64, n.141, pp. 195-212. ISSN 0006-5943.

The study aimed at investigating relationships between the strategies of conflict resolution of preadolescents and their perception of their parents' and teachers' views on these, as well as differences in the two sources of influence. Participants of the study were 369 students enrolled in the sixth and seventh grades of three elementary schools. Students answered a questionnaire about how they would solve ten hypothetical situations of interpersonal conflict involving colleagues, friends and parents. Questions regarding parents' and teachers' opinions about the strategy selected, as well as their motives were added in two conflicts. The predominant strategies found in the total sample were submission, coercion, coercion mixed with submission, and negotiation. Submission and negotiation were identified as approved by parents and teachers. Aggression and submission mixed with coercion were identified as disapproved by both groups of educators. It was found significant differences regarding students' knowledge of educators' opinion
