Until the present moment there is not a validated instrument that appraises the Burnout Syndrome by SATEPSI, an official organization of the Psychology Federal Council that authorizes the use of psychological assessment instruments in Brazil. ISB was created to fill this gap. 95 statements were evaluated by eight judges for their clarity and relevance to be later administered to 604 Brazilian workers. The factor analysis reduced this first version to 36 items. The ISB was composed of two scales of antecedent components: Positive Organizational Conditions (8 items, α=.84) and Negative (8 items, α=.78), plus those related to the syndrome itself: Emotional Exhaustion (5 items, α=.86), Dehumanization (4 items, α=.74), Emotional Withdraw (5 items, α=.80) and Professional Accomplish (6 items, α=.92), demonstrating acceptable psychometric qualities. Analyses of convergent validity, confirmatory factor, time stability (test-retest), in addition to expanding the sample to other regions of the country are being held
