Abstract

PERKTOLD, Carlos. Sociopathy: justice and revenge. Estud. psicanal. [online]. 2010, n.34, pp. 21-26. ISSN 0100-3437.

Considering a text published in the Caderno Pensar the Brazilian newspaper "Estado de Minas", on July 26, 2010, the present author writes an essay about sociopathy replying the writer of said text, who stated that our prison system would still be "stupid and cruel" even if the government could offer individual cells, work and study to criminal people. Dissenting with said author, the present one describes the history of the Code of Hammurabi and the Decalogue and explains why it is important to punish those who have a behavior mentioned in any Penal Code. He also writes about sociopathy and mentions, as literary examples, the character of "Diário do Farol", a novel by João Ubaldo Ribeiro, and "Richard III", by Shakespeare. The author finishes his work mentioning the present legal and political aspects of our system, showing that neither the government nor the Brazilian congressmen wants to change any legal system in our country.

Keywords : Sociopatia; Código de Hamurabi; Decálogo; Crime doloso; Crime culposo; Sociopathy; Code of Hammurabi; Decalogue; Felonious crime; Involuntary crime.
