This paper endeavors to achieve a better understanding of the serial killer phenomenon in the media, using as examples Hannibal Lecter and Dexter (from books and movies) and relating the concepts of serial killer to those of consumer society, cannibalism, reification and the lacanian lust (Jouissance).
