This article discusses the possibilities of the study on poverty in the Freudian field. As a social issue, it perpetuates the world’s division between those who have the right to education, preventive and curative services in health and those who do not enjoy a quality life. Freud had no doubt about the indications of psychoanalysis applied to therapy for the poor population of society. He has, however, challenged us to think about two specificities of that treatment: the alienation in the discourse of social exclusion and in the psychic suffering itself. Therefore, proposing a psychoanalysis applied to outpatient services requires a reflection about the subjective effects of poverty, which affects, at least, 40% of our population. An analyst can offer these individuals the experience of unconscious to let them find the logic of their decisions and life position, ensuring them the opportunity to leave the repetition of the worst.
