Abstract

SALLES, Ana Cristina Teixeira da Costa  and  CECCARELLI, Paulo Roberto. Anguish, helplessness and separation in contemporary clinical. Estud. psicanal. [online]. 2012, n.38, pp. 23-28. ISSN 0100-3437.

The aim of this article is to investigate how the drive dynamics of contemporary society reflected in the manifestations of distress and helplessness in situations of loss, separation and bereavement. How have patients reacted to such situations when time demands immediate solutions? How have such requirements expressed themselves in the current clinical work of mourning and what are their consequences to the psychoanalytic work? Up to which extension have the characteristics of our society contributed to the failure of this process? What is the psychoanalyst responsibility in this situation? What psychoanalysis has to offer in this social conjuncture? These are some of the questions and issues of psychoanalytic work that we would like to discuss with colleagues.

Keywords : Anxiety; Separation; Contemporary Clinic.
