MENDES, Eliana Rodrigues Pereira. The presence of Igor Caruso in Brazil. Estud. psicanal. [online]. 2013, n.39, pp. 47-52. ISSN 0100-3437.

The author traces the psychoanalyst Igor Caruso’s profile, one of the founders of International Federation of Psychoanalytic Societies (IFPS), alternative institution to the dogmatic International Psychoanalytical Association (IPA). She comments his first visit to Brazil, in 1956, and his longer staying in 1968/1969 in Belo Horizonte, where he helped to consolidate the then newborn Círculo Psicanalítico de Minas Gerais (CPMG), and took part on the foundation of Círculo Brasileiro de Psicanálise (CBP). Caruso has been also important in the creation of others Circles of Psychoanalysis in Latin America. The article presents his psychoanalytic ideas, especially about personalization and the permanent dialectic influence of socialization, still emphasizing his human qualities.
