With the goal of humanization of care, the author discusses some conceptions of the psychoanalytic approach about the so-called "physical pain" of the human being, its difference from "mental pain", and he emphasizes that it is questionable to talk about the dichotomy between the physical and psychological aspects of the pain. The author understands that the psychic aspect is present in the "physical pain" of the patient, and the unconscious effects should be analyzed by a psychoanalyst in the health team, when there is indication.
