This paper comes from reflection on the Theory of Thinking by Bion. A Theory of Thinking does not simply refer to a cognitive function, but speaks the opening of a space of authorship. According to Bion, the frustration experienced by a psychic apparatus able to bear it originates a proto-mental system which develops a psychic apparatus capable for thinking it. In other words, the thinking comes as a solution to cope with frustration. The Theory of Thinking enables an understanding of the formation of the psyche, tapering listening to the acquisition of symbolic capacity.
