This text is the possibility of a conceptual dialogue between the knowledge produced by Paulo Freire in ‘Pedagogy of the Oppressed’ and the psychoanalytic work of Sigmund Freud. The oppressor-oppressed relationship, theorized by Freire, reexamined under light of the concepts of sadism and masochism studied by Freud throughout his work. The search for knowledge described as a joint construction between the authors, like the teacher-student relationship (transference), will empower freedom. Although in relatively diverse fields, the two authors, Freire and Freud, continue to contribute to our understanding of life in society, and to provide evidence for evolution.
