Abstract

MENDES, Roberta. Smartphones: Transitional Object and Conectivity in a New Potential Space. Estud. psicanal. [online]. 2015, n.44, pp. 133-144. ISSN 0100-3437.

The objective of the study is to raise a reflection with regards to the use of smartphones by the hypermodern subject as a transitional object and as a support of potential space, in light of the Winnicotian theory. Bearing in mind the environmental provision by parents, their surrogates and, finally, by the society in the upbringing of the contemporary being, the aim is to demonstrate that the utilization of new technologies can be in the realm of the expression of health, as an element able to be integrated into the field of a new “normality”, instead of necessarily attached to the pathological registry, as one would, precipitously (given the short term of the phenomenon), attempt to classify.

Keywords : Smartphones; Transitional object; Potential space; Environmental provision.
