Abstract

FERNANDES, Julia Braga do Patrocínio  and  PEIXOTO JUNIOR, Carlos Augusto. The autistic: contiguous position and the non-verbal communication in psychoanalytical clinics. Estud. psicanal. [online]. 2016, n.45, pp. 71-82. ISSN 0100-3437.

This article aims to explore the concept of autistic-contiguous position formulated by Thomas Ogden. With the considerable increase of so called non-neurotic patients, the analyst found himself compelled to expand their listening skills and direct his attention to other forms of communication that do not necessarily pass through verbal language. From the approach offered by object relations theory, we will discuss the genesis of human communication and the way in which its non-verbal aspects remain active in later life, offering support for a further understanding of what one wants to be communicated in the analytic relationship.

Keywords : Position; Communication; Psychoanalysis; Object relations.
