As the result of a master´s work, the present research investigated motivations of patients with cardiovascular risk factors that changed their lifestyle. Medical records were consulted and interviews were conducted. Through thematic analysis, issues related to the subject dominated. The impulse for life and the operation by the principle of reality were prevalent.
