Abstract

MARCHON, Fabio Lennon  and  ARREGUY, Marilia Etienne. From trauma to Ethnomathematics: a professor in search of psychoanalytic guidance. Estud. psicanal. [online]. 2016, n.46, pp. 55-65. ISSN 0100-3437.

This work is an interpretative-analytical essay centered on the investigation of the narratives of two subjects, here portrayed as characters of a dramatic text, whose psychological experiences are intertwined in the almost fictional universe of Ethnomathematics. Part of the traces of memories of X, a professor of mathematics and post graduate student, and comes to the narrative of Ubiratan D’Ambrosio, founder of the Program of Studies and Research called Ethnomathematics. These stories intertwine in a shared psychic universe, a quasi-fictional world that reconfigures and rewrites the fields of convergence of the discourses and practices of these characters, where language presents itself as a great “screen” in which life is staged. The intention of this investigation is to raise hypotheses about the unconscious origins of the desire to research, to create and to teach, by analyzing the “trauma” of these two characters, as they live, inhabit and construct this new world called Ethnomathematics. To link an analysis of these histories, we refer to the theoretical reference of psychoanalysis, articulated to the support of hermeneutics.

Keywords : Teacher training; Ethnomathematics; Trauma; Transfer; Identification.
