Abstract

SILVA, José Maurício da. A clínica psicanalítica com idosos: uma construçãoPsychoanalytic clinic for seniors: a construction. Estud. psicanal. [online]. 2018, n.49, pp. 115-123. ISSN 0100-3437.

This paper proposes some particularities of the psychoanalytic clinic in the care for the eldely. I would like to highlight the ageing world population and, particularly, with increased longevity, there is a greater visibility of the elderly as well their demands. Another reason is the scarcity of psychoanalytical research, that is, lack of literature explaining the question about ageing. This approach defends sublimation as a means of sustaining the wish and, above all, as a means of transformation provided by social bonds, aiming to make the subject the leader of his own history and assuming that investment is what upholds existence. There is no age for desire. Through this principle, one must “bet on life” even when the body becomes a sick stage, always pointing towards death. Thus, psychoanalysis summons the subjects to the hearing and remembering, which enable their own histories and reconcile them with the legitimacy of their own wish.

Keywords : Aging; Psychoanalytical clinic; Sublimation.
