Abstract

POKORSKI, Maria Melania Wagner Franckowiak. Psychoanalysis: When speaking is an obstacle. Estud. psicanal. [online]. 2018, n.50, pp. 107-113. ISSN 0100-3437.

The present article approaches languages as constituent of the subject according to Freud, Winnicott, Dolto and Lebrun. It aims at examining, in the psychoanalytical practice, the situation in which a child is faced with the impossibility of using spoken language when they are in a group, especially in the school. The methodology is characterized as a case study of a 9-year-old girl currently in treatment, with an initial complaint of Selective Mutism. Throughout the article we describe some interventions and interpretations carried out with the girl and her family. This clinical case has lead us to expand the study and conduct a research within the PhD in Social Psychology, in which we found students presenting Selective Mutism enrolled in the 2nd to the 8th years of elementary and secondary school in five schools located in the metropolitan area of Porto Alegre - RS.

Keywords : Case Study; Language; Clinic; Selective Mutism.
