Abstract

MELO, Rodrigo Zanon de et al. Orofacial harmonization and covid-19: the aesthetic experience and psychic helplessness in the dialogue between Dentistry and Psychoanalysis. Estud. psicanal. [online]. 2021, n.56, pp. 113-126. ISSN 0100-3437.

The present work aims to propose a dialogue between Dentistry and Psychoanalysis having as object of study the aesthetic procedure of orofacial harmonization and its psychic resonances. In view of the current pandemic moment and the increase in demand for the procedure, a reflection will be made in situations in which orofacial harmonization may appear as an attempt to "solution" in the face of issues arising from psychological suffering and contemporary symptoms. Between the clinical indication and the search for the idealized symmetrical image, a theoretical/clinical path will be covered, between the dentist's look and the psychoanalyst's listening in order to enable the subject who seeks the aesthetic procedure, a genuine experience of his experience

Keywords : Orofacial; Harmonization; Pandemic; Helplessness; Body; Image; Dentistry and Psychoanalysis.
