Abstract

The author presents psychoanalytical reflections on the absence, in traditional language used by some Amazon Indians, of words to express numbers three, four, five, six etc. He supposes that the vocabulary emptiness observed in groups of Yanomami, studied in loco, is a linguistic phenomenon related to interdictory forces of Oedipus complex.
