Based on the novel and film O cheiro do ralo (The smell of the drain), this essay discusses the psychoanalytical concept of sexuality that does not necessarily admit a coincidence between sexuality and love & life, gathered around Eros, and develops the idea of a kind of love that breaks the tie with Eros and connects with the death instinct (Thanatos).
