MAUTNER, Anna Verônica. Ferenczi: Budapest. Ide (São Paulo) [online]. 2009, vol.32, n.48, pp. 191-197. ISSN 0101-3106.

This work intends to outline some of the probable reasons for Psychoanalysis to have found fertile grounds to flourish in Hungary. The fact that Budapest was near Vienna, the capital of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, had its advantages and disadvantages. The fact that the Hungarian language was not abandoned, adding to it the use of German in the Universities, represented a conflict for the bourgeoisie: the pride in their language and in both languages. The therapy of the word, legitimizing Hungarian as the language of affection, came to solve this conflict. It also intends to focus on the contributions of Ferenczi’s work, whose background is faith in the human being, an idea which prevailed in the early decades of the 20th century. At that time the concept of “feeling with” appears, also present in other thinkers. The same occurred with the concept of affinity, considered by the phenomenologists as a phase in human development.
